When can I buy a monthly travel card ?

Monthly Travel Cards are available for sale at the Ticket Offices of the stations. They are sold

  • at METRO Line 1 ticket issuing offices from the 27th of the current month until the 4th of the following month,
  • at METRO Line 2 and 3 ticket issuing offices from the 24th of the current month until the 8th of the following month,
  • at the TRAM ticket issuing offices from the 26th of the current month until the 8th of the following month.

Where can I find information about the prices and the validity of tickets and cards ?

You can find information regarding the prices and the validity of the available tickets and cards at the corresponding page of our website. Furthermore, you can get relevant information from the Passenger Information Office. Finally, information can be found at the tables which are posted at the Ticket Offices, at the Offices of Station Masters as well as at the stations' noticeboards. When is the first and last itinerary of the Lines 1, 2 and 3 ?

The first itinerary starts at 05:00 from the terminal stations of Line 1 and at 05:30 from the terminal stations of the Lines 2 and 3. The last itinerary from the terminal stations of Line 1 starts at 00:15. The last itinerary from SYNTAGMA station towards the terminal stations of Lines 2 and 3 starts at 00:20, while on Friday and Saturday nights, where an extension of itineraries is applied, the last itinerary from SYNTAGMA towards the terminal stations of Lines 2 and 3 starts at 02:20. The trains’ transit times from the stations, including the first and last itineraries are posted at the noticeboards in every station.

What is the frequency of the itineraries to and from the Airport ?

The itineraries to and from the Airport are executed every 30 minutes of an hour, all weekdays. The detailed trains’ transit times for the Airport are posted on the noticeboards in every station of Line 3. On the noticeboards of Line 2, you can find posted the transit times for the routes from Syntagma station to the Airport, given that a passenger is required to change train at Syntagma station in order to go to the Airport.

How can I recognize a train that goes to the Airport ?

At the destination indication, which is located at the front of the train and also at the electric itinerary noticeboard at the platforms of Line 3 stations, the word “Aεροδρόμιο / Airport” is written. Furthermore, the trains that go to the Airport can be recognized by the signs with the airplane icon, which are glued to the side windows of the train.

What kind of ticket should I issue for the route from and to the Airport ?

The simple Airport ticket costs 8 € and it is valid for a single route towards the Airport from any station of the network of Lines 1, 2 and 3 or vice versa. Furthermore, it is possible to issue Group tickets for a single trip for 2 or 3 persons, as well as a roundtrip ticket for returning within 7 days. What are the operating hours of the TRAM ?

The tram operates from Sunday to Thursday from 05:30 until 01:00, while on Fridays and Saturdays it operates from 05:30 until 02:30.

Are there any toilets at the METRO stations ?

In every METRO station there are toilets for the public, which are reserved for use mainly by Persons with Disabilities or persons needing assistance (elderly persons, pregnant women etc.). For safety reasons and also for sanitation purposes the use of the toilets is supervised. The operating staff of the stations can allow the use of the toilets also to other persons who need to use them.

One of my personal belongings fell on the tracks. What should I do ?

It is strictly forbidden to descend for any reason at the tracks used for the transit of the trains. You shouldn’t attempt to recover your item that fell on the tracks. There is immediate danger of electric shock and accident due to a train passing through. You can report the incident to the Station Master who will take further actions.

There are often too many people on the platforms. What should I do ?

The platform can host a fairly large number of passengers. For your convenience, you should move along the whole platform and avoid to crowd together at specific locations of the platform. The train covers the whole length of the platform and your embarkation will be done easier and faster.

I inserted my ticket to the machine but it was not validated. What should I do ?

Often, because of improper use or due to an instant failure of the ticket validation machine the ticket validation might be done improperly. For this reason, the passenger should check the proper validation of his/her ticket (there is relevant marking as well on the ticket validation machines). In case of an improper validation of your ticket you should immediately inform the Station Master. If you are using the ΤRΑΜ, you can validate your ticket to the ticket validation machine of the opposite platform.

Can I transport my pet with the Means of Fixed Track Transport ?

For the safety of the passengers, the transportation of pets inside the means of fixed track transport is allowed only within special carrying cases. Also, the embarkation of guide dogs for blind persons within the trains is allowed (without a muzzle).

Can I transport my bike with the trains/vehicles of the Means of Fixed Track Transport ?

Urban Rail Transport S.A. allows the transportation of bikes by the METRO and and the TRAM during all days and hours, at all stations and at all stops.  Only two bikes are allowed which can be entered into the train through the last door of each train/vehicle, during all days and hours, that is, from Monday to Sunday, from the start till the end of operation. The transportation of bikes from the passengers using them can be done either on foot, or using the elevators. The transportation of bikes using the escalators is strictly forbidden. It is allowed to transport folding bikes.

If there is an emergency and I need to contact with the staff of Urban Rail Transport S.A. while I am standing at the platform, what should I do ?

At the platforms of all METRO stations, there is the option of direct communication with the Station Master by pushing the red button which is located on the fire extinguisher system. Attention: The unnecessary use will be prosecuted!

In case that he/she has lost one of his/her personal belongings the passenger can address to the Lost Property Offices either to declare your loss or recover an item that was found. If a passenger finds a lost item he/she can give it to the staff of the station where he/she is situated.
